Sites that compare electricity and gas tariffs collect enquiries from people who want to switch supplier or understand what they spend. The publisher passes them to energy suppliers, brokers or their sales agencies, often so that someone can call back. Markmatix will follow each enquiry from the form to the revenue, with the proof of consent always attached. It is in development: this page describes how we are designing it, for Italy first and with the rest of the EU in mind.
Standard fields for electricity and gas
Markmatix will provide an energy schema, with validation and versions: the type of supply (electricity, gas or both), annual consumption, the current supplier. Each publisher will be able to add its own fields. With one schema for everyone, the connector to each supplier will be written once and work for every publisher that deals with it.
Lead capture can run in steps. The request will be created at the first step, with contact details and consent; later steps, such as consumption, will open from a signed personal link, with no login. Each step will update the lead's score and value.
Consent: energy suppliers
In the consent record every tick box will be a row that is never edited, with the exact wording, its fingerprint, version, date, IP address and page. Consent to pass data on can be asked for a single recipient or for a category, such as "energy suppliers".
Before every delivery Markmatix will check the partner against the consent: if the partner is not covered, the lead will not leave. For each partner you will choose whether the lead is exclusive or shared. Withdrawals and erasure requests will reach every partner that received the enquiry on their own.
Partners' calls and opt-out registers
In Italy the Registro pubblico delle opposizioni is governed by Law no. 5 of 11 January 2018 and Presidential Decree no. 26 of 27 January 2022. According to the register's own site, it covers every national phone number, landline and mobile, and signing up also cancels consents given earlier, except those given after signing up and those with organisations the person has a contract with, such as utility providers. The site also says operators must check it every month, and in any case before telephone campaigns.
Markmatix will keep the date, time and exact wording of every consent, and the proof will travel with the lead. Routing rules will respect partner opening hours. How the register, or your own country's opt-out register, applies to the calls partners make on leads they receive is for a lawyer to set: the project document lists it among the points to check. The same applies to telecoms.
A phone number checked before transfer
In the core, the quality checks will look at international format and number type, landline or mobile. As a plugin, a live-number check and SMS one-time codes will follow, switched on per vertical when a partner pays more for a verified phone.
A new energy enquiry from the same email or phone within 30 days will be flagged as a duplicate. Sources that behave oddly, with spikes, repeated devices or forms filled in too fast, will be quarantined, with an alert on Telegram.
Routing and revenue
Each enquiry will run through a cascade of rules by area, score, daily and monthly caps and partner opening hours, and go to the first partner that accepts it. Unsold enquiries will stay with you where consent allows, and can be offered again for 7 days; after that they will no longer be passed on.
Revenue will come back through postbacks: one address per network, a ledger of changes (accrued, confirmed, reversed, paid) and a comparison with network reports. Reversals will weigh on the score of the source that produced them.
